How to Use Primer for Beginners
Hello beauties! We all have to start somewhere, and if you're new to makeup and want to know some essentials, I'm here to give you the basics on how and why to use primer.

There are tons on the market. |
Plain and simple, primer is the base layer for the rest of your makeup. Think of it, if you will, like the foundation of a house. You need it to build off of to ensure the rest of your creation goes well. Some primers fill pores, making skin look very smooth and even. Others absorb oil or color correct. I've reviewed a few before. Right now, as it's summer and I do not want anything heavy, I'm wearing a serum primer and a minimal amount of face makeup. The result is concealer and foundation that blend on easily and wear well with minimal to no touch ups.

A great one to hide large pores! |
After cleansing and moisturizing your face, apply a small amount of primer to your fingertips then spread evenly across your face, including the under eye area. Allow to dry and sink into the skin for a few moments, then proceed with concealer and foundation. If you've never used it before, you will notice a difference in how the rest of your makeup applies and wears throughout the day.
There are a lot of budget friendly options, like the e.l.f. one above. Wet n Wild also makes great, inexpensive options for many different types of skin. If you are oily, steer clear of oil based primers or anything that is creamy, as it will not be a pretty sight by the end of the day.
What is your favorite primer?
