Product Review: NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

This post isn't sponsored, duh.

Hi, beauties! It's only been in the few years that I've discovered an essential in my daily makeup routine: setting spray. A full face of makeup lasting through the day was unheard of, and in summer it was a rarity. So you just don't do it. That's where setting spray comes in...

The first I tried was from Urban Decay, De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray, for which I paid $32 at Sephora.

It worked really well, especially on important days like a friend's wedding. However... that price tag. Mother of pearl, that price tag. But after I used that bottle up (and it did go fast, though I tried to make it last), I had to find a replacement.

Enter: Target. I'm there a lot, as I live a mile or so on a frontage road from a Super Target, and have the Red Card, Cartwheel, etc. I'm a Midwestern woman in her 30's. I freakin' love Target.

Anyhoo... I digress. I'm a big fan of the brand they carry called NYX. And they had a matte setting spray for $5.99. SOLD.

I'm now on my very last, dribbly droplets of my 4th bottle. It's one of the final steps of my makeup routine, right before mascara. This bottle seems to last a lot longer despite being smaller and containing less(De-Slick contains 4 fluid ounces, NYX contains 2.03 fluid ounces). I use three sprays: left, center, right.

On top of the price tag, it's a superior product in my opinion. Immediately after using, my makeup looks polished and airbrushed, and any powdery look is gone from loose setting powder. De-Slick did not have that effect for me.

Also going for it... superior staying power. The photo below was taken 12 hours after using NYX. I walked 3 blocks in blizzard conditions to get to my car after work, and I'm getting over a cold so I blew my nose a few times.

My highlighter is still glowing, my eyeshadow is still there, and my under eye circles are still hidden like they should be.

Have any of you tried this setting spray? Agree or disagree?
