Product Review: NYX Angel Veil Primer

Hi, beauties!  Hope you're having a great day, and you're feeling as beautiful as I'm sure you look (and if you're bare-faced in your pj's, even better). I'm here to talk about a primer I've almost used up at this point, and feel I'm ready to review.

I've never used a primer from NYX before, and really liked the texture of an Avon one that my grandma had given me probably a decade ago and I finally used up.  It was a silky, light texture and made my skin powdery and smooth.  The NYX Angel Veil Perfecting Primer reviews I saw made it sound comparable (and it's not an MLM, double win) so I picked it up at Target for $15.99.  That's really high for me as far as drugstore makeup goes, so I had high hopes.

The texture is definitely similar to the Avon, and glides on.  It needs to be spread over your skin quickly, however, as it does set.  Once it's set, it's not going anywhere.  Good thing for keeping makeup in place, bad thing if you're a slow poke at blending.

I tried this during the winter months, and even with setting powder, matte setting spray, and blotting papers midday, I got oily.  I also broke out along my jawline more often.  This could be hormones, or product getting caked there, but I did notice an increase in pimples there.

As far as staying power goes, this primer caused pretty awful breakdown in foundation on my nose and cheeks.  After a full day, it looked downright bad in natural light.

Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed for this pricey primer.  There are better and less expensive options at the drugstore, and if you're looking for one, I wouldn't recommend NYX Angel Veil.
