Lip Product Loves
Hi everyone! It's headed into the late fall/early winter season, and if you're anything like me, your lips are PARCHED! I have a few go-to products that keep them in tip-top shape, though, like...
ELF Lip Exfoliator, $3 at Target. There are several scents/flavors available, but I'm still on my original tube from at least 2 years ago. It looks just like a lipstick, but with the best scrubbers well suspended in some sort of balm. It's not soft by any means, and holds its shape even as you scrub across lips. According to the ELF website, it's vitamin infused as well.
I usually use this fresh out of the shower after brushing my teeth. Just rub it around on your upper lip then lower lip in circular motions, for about 10 seconds or until they feel really smooth and there's no dry skin left. Then rinse off and apply a good balm.
Speaking of good balms...
Smith's Minted Rose Lip Balm, available at Sephora. It's a cult classic, and for good reason. It's so incredibly nourishing and smells amazing, with a slight minty tingle. Again, a product I've had for a number of years and use near daily, and it is only half gone. Makes a great gift, too! The only issue I have with it is that you apply with your finger, but I usually just wash my hands or wipe it off on a tissue. It also has great staying power for a balm, your lips don't soak it up in an instant, but rather it sticks around and really makes a nice gloss as well.
Every day before I start my makeup, I use...
Another cult favorite, Maybelline Baby Lips. I've had quite a few colors over the years, the cherry being my favorite colored/scented balm. However, the Quenched is amazing. It's a clear, unscented balm that claims 24-hour moisture and lip renewal. It also has a nice bonus of SPF 20 (hence the morning use). I wear this under lip products daily, whether it be liquid lipstick or a sheer gloss, and my lips stay soft all day.
If you're looking for a balm with a touch of color and a great scent...
Try Revlon Kiss lip balm. Again, it has SPF 20, so I feel OK wearing it alone. I picked up a two pack with cherry and strawberry. Both of them smelled really nice, and had sheer color that looked nice over bare lips. Just the right amount of color that doesn't scream lipstick but is more than just a lip balm. I do have an issue with the package design, however. The caps do NOT want to stay on. I currently have them both in my purse and have found them both capless at times. Obviously I will take them out but the cap doesn't really "click" onto anything, just glides on.
