The Ultimate Indulgence: Coconut Olive Oil Hair Treatment

OK, there are probably things more luxurious.  But when you make as much as a fast food worker and live in a one bedroom apartment, you'll take what you can get.  This is one of those luxuries.

Let's start with coconut oil.

Yup, it's friggin' Minnesota in early April, it's hard as a rock and I had to dig it out with a spoon.  This is about half a cup, as I have thick, course hair that is past my shoulders.  I have store brand, non organic, non extra virgin coconut oil.  It's as basic as it gets, bitches.  Add some olive oil, I added about half a cup.

This is extra virgin, from Costco.  ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY COSTCO!  Sacrifice some virgin... olive oil to it, it saves you money.  I had to microwave it all for about 30 seconds.

All liquidy and beautiful and smooth.  I added 7 (my lucky number) drops of tea tree oil and mixed it really well.  You can add an egg here if you're going to rinse it out after an hour or so, but if you're leaving it on overnight, I'd advise against the egg.  And if your oil is hot, you're making oily scrambled eggs.  Let it come to room temperature before you add that optional egg.

I applied it starting at my scalp and massaging in, standing over the sink and being careful not to splash, because it gets EVERYWHERE.  I combed it through my hair and massaged it all in, then wrapped my head in plastic wrap.  Yep, from the pantry.  It's a really sexy look.  Wrap your head in a dish rag or put on a stocking hat... and prepare for drippies by wearing a shitty t shirt.  And if you need to, wrap your HAIR in the shitty t shirt.  It's how I dry my hair!

I slept with this oily concoction in overnight, and shampooed twice then conditioned normally in the morning.  You can also leave it on for half an hour to an hour for results as well.  I chose to wear my hair curly today, as it was raining and I wanted to save my hair from an unnecessary blow dry.
